About
Frequently Imagined Questions (FIQ)

Q: Why is the comic so crudly drawn?

A: The sketchy look is choosen of two reasons: 1) Because I wish to be able to keep an update a week, and 2) Because it is a sketch. My dream is to turn the Saga into a real comic book some day.

Q: That's not what I meant. I meant: Why is the comic so ugly?
A: Because I suck at drawing. Hopefully, I will get better.

Q: How is the comic hosted?
A: With the aid of ComicGenesis. Those guys are cool. Updating is extremely easy, and the service is fast and free.

Q: Where is the comic set?
A: In the pseudo-norse lands of Eldrheim and Isarheim. The nature of the lands will be more obvious later on.

Q: What do you mean, pseudo-norse?
A: Well, for one thing, there're the robots. That does not excactly fit with Scandinavia in the 700-1050's. The mythology is another point of difference, as well as the big stone castles. And the way of dressing: The army uses uniforms, for example. And a lot of minor details. This is by no means an attempt to make anything nearly historical plausible. Still, it is more norse than standard fantasy, which is more like rennaiscance.

Q: What does the runes on pace 3 of the comic mean?
A: It is "Veðrblaka's Saga" in 16-futhark.

Q: No, it isn't. The 3rd rune is a TH, it is only in one word, and there is a S missing!
A: That's not a question, but yes: It is correctly written: The Thurs rune is pronounced TH only in the beginning of words. Within words, it is pronounced ð. Futhermore, in norse grammar you cannot put two similar runes in a row. When a word ends with the same rune as the next one begins with, you cut away one of the runes and merge the words into one.

Q: How is Veðrblaka even pronounced?
A: I can't write it phonetic, but it is something like "Vehdrrblaka". The ð is quite hard to explain the sound of. Ask one of your Icelandic or Faroese friends, or a Norweigian familiar with Nynorsk.

Q: Everything is named so odd! Do the names bear a meaning?
A: You can bet they do. Grab your Norse-English dictionary and discover the full extent of my unoriginality in naming.

Q: The comic doesn't make sense. Is there a red thread?
A: Yes.

Q: Will there be gruesome, graphically explicit deaths?
A: Yes. Most definedly.

Q: Will there be nudity?
A: Yes.

Q: Why do you only upload one page at a time?
A: To keep the flow continious. I know I can make a page a week, and I belive in a regular update rather than several pages at once with irregular intervals. Irregular comics are annoying.

Q: What's the thing with female breasts?
A: To judge from my drawings, it seems that the wonderbra has been invented in the world of Eldrheim. That's not true, but I'm not too good at drawing plausible clothings, and especially not womens' blouses.

Q: What's the thing with dreams?
A: The Saga is actually based quite closely on -at the time of writing- six dreams. More seem to come, creating future stories. Not much conscious efford has been made with regard to the story, except for analyzing and remembering the dreams and putting the pieces together. The continious flow of dreams was also the reason that I started the story, and not just regarded it as a good dream, since it seems like my subconsciousnes is actively trying to get me to doing the thing. And who wants to fight his subconsciousnes?

Q: If it is Veðrblaka's Saga, how come that it's all about My?
A: It took some pages, but we have now returned to our winged hero.

Q: Yes, what is it with those wings? Why does he look like that?
A: Once again: Patience.

Q: Can I send you fanart?

A: Yesyesyes! I'll upload it and link to it from the forum and fanart section. Go ahead! Send a mail to vedrblaka@lupus-ignis.dk with your art, and raise to a higher caste in the Spirit World.
